        PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

Q. What is the medium of instruction?
A. Lectures will be delivered in the English language for the first three years. In the last two years, the medium of instruction will be the Arabic language.

 

Q. How do I get registered to Darul Ulum Online?

A. Click the "Apply Now" tab, fill out the registration form, and select the �submit� button. This will lead you to a second page where you are able to select your desired courses. Once you have done this, the system will take you to the payment section.

 

Q. What is the difference between a full-time student and a part-time student?

A. In order to become a full-time student, you must register for a minimum of nine (9) credit hours or three (3) classes per semester. Anything less is considered part-time.

 

Q. Is there anything else I have to do after registering?

A. No. Instead, you will be receiving a confirmation email from Darul Ulum Online and will receive your Student Log-In information a few days later.

        NEW STUDENTS

Q. I logged into Darul Ulum Online as a student. What do I do next?

A. After logging in, you will see a customized student page with multiple options. Select the total number of credit hours you want and the courses you would like to take.

 

Q. What time will classes start and how long will they go for?

A. Classes start at 5 PM in all time zones and each class lasts for 45 minutes.

 

Q. Can I change my status from a full time student to a part time student during the semester?

A. Yes. But you only have until the end of the first week of classes to change your academic status.

 

Q. Do I have to finish every year in succession and uninterrupted?

A. Not necessarily. But, all students have to complete an entire course year�s requirements before entering into the next level of advanced courses.

 

Q. Can I register for a semester and skip the following one?

A. Yes, you can skip a semester and register for it when those classes are offered again.

        CLASSES AND CREDIT HOURS

Q. How many credit hours is each class?

A. A class is three (3) credit hours.

 

Q. How many semesters are there in each year?

A. There are 2 semesters in each year.

 

Q. Can I take only one class per semester?

A. No, you have to take at least three classes per semester to meet part-time requirements.

 

Q. How many classes are offered daily?

A. No more than 5 classes are offered daily.

 

Q. Do I have to join live classes?

A. Yes, you have to join a majority of your live class sessions.

 

Q. Will there be assignments for each class?

A. Yes. Your instructor will be assigning homework.

 

Q. How are exams and tests conducted?

A. All exams and tests will be conducted online.

        AUDIO / VISUAL

Q. Are classes� audio-based or video-based?

A. All classes are video based. One will be able to watch and listen to their Instructors.

 

Q. What are the basic requirements for my computer to work well?

A. Students should have windows XP, Vista, or Mac.

 

Q. How fast should my internet be?

A. You must have a high speed internet or broadband connection.

 

Q. How can I ask a question to my instructor?

A. Questions are asked by clicking on the "Ask a question" tab on your classroom screen. Once approval has been given from the instructor, a question will can be fielded.

 

Q. What if I miss a class, how can I make-up the material covered in that class?

A. Each week, classes will be recorded, and open for access from a student's personal page. Students will be able to watch and listen to the complete presentation anytime throughout the week.

        TIME SCHEDULES

Q. Can I change my time zone?

A. Yes, you can change time zones. It is expected that by the first two weeks of classes, students be aligned to a single time zone.

 

Q. How do I get the required books for each class?

A. The names of all the books needed, by subject, can be viewed on the �Curriculum� page . Students can either purchase these books from their local book store, or from our online book store and by visiting the website: www.darul-kitab.com.

        TUITION

Q. How much do I pay if I am a part time student?

A. The tuition fee, regardless of your academic status (full time or part time), is the same for all students.

 

Q. I don't have a credit card. How do I pay for my tuition?

A. The option of a wire transfer is available. Please contact the Darul Ulum Online administration for more information on this method of pay.
